These works, while still being perfectly functional, are characterised by their by their 'one off' nature. They are typical of the studio ceramics that are more likely to be included in gallery and private collections and allow a little more room for 'artistic expression'.
The sections on sculpture and 2D works are interesting both from the point of view that Barry's ceramics can be seen as sculptural forms with a surface that bears a close relationship to drawing and other 2D disciplines, so you can see the greater interests and directions of a visual artist, as well as showing works that embrace a little more 'whimsy'.
