At this stage of my travels in ceramics I have found that some things stay the same and other things change.
The ‘rightness’ of a piece, its balance, form and tactile appeal, the pots capacity to occupy its space comfortably and sit well; these things remain constant. Change in my work has occurred by exploring the material and methods of this complex craft. By following my intuition and taking chances I have produced some unexpected surprises, some good, some not so good, but it’s a learning process and to be surprised at this stage in my journey is a buzz.
Ceramics for me, like life, is an evolving process. Teasing out new glazes, new surfaces, and the stroke of a brush in ever changing combinations fascinates me. It’s the endless quest.
